How do saunas help me lose weight?

Our saunas pods have been shown to aid in weight loss by heating your core temperature to induce sweating. Increases in blood flow and heart rate are a result, similar to moderate exercise, which has shown to enhance weight loss.

Why don’t I feel anything in the Red Light Therapy Room?

While Red light Therapy provides a warm relaxing feeling, it’s intensity does not rise to the level of infrared light. However, the benefits of red light are equally powerful as Red light produces a biochemical effect in cells that strengthens the mitochondria. The mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell — it’s where the cell’s energy is created and reset. This reset can stimulate collagen production, hair growth, stimulate fat loss, relieve pain and inflammation, reduce muscle atrophy, boost mental acuity, balance hormones by increasing circulation to sex organs.

How much weight can I lose in a sauna?

There’s a lot that goes into weight loss, including your current weight, nutrition, diet, exercise and fitness level. Our saunas can be a great addition to your weight loss plan. Sessions have been shown to burn as much as 600 calories, which may be similar to an hour-long jogging session on a treadmill.

Can I Bring My Kids?

Due to liability reasons, only those who are sweating can be in the room during sauna sessions. We also cannot have children left unattended in the lobby at any time for liability reasons. Please make alternative arrangements for childcare if you will be coming in to sweat.

What is the difference in a steam sauna and an infrared sauna for weight loss?

A traditional sauna uses wet or dry heat to warm the air around you, which induces sweating. This can aid in weight loss, but it has shown that the weight loss is mainly due to loss of water – or heavy sweating. An infrared sauna heats your body from the inside out, which allows you to stay in the sauna longer and increases your heart rate. Infrared sauna use results in more calories burned in a shorter period of time.

Can the infrared sauna pod help to boost my immune system?

Several studies have shown that our saunas stimulate white blood cell production and collagen growth by increasing energy at the cellular level. For example, a study done at the Medical College of Wisconsin demonstrated that LED-produced near infrared helps promote cell health and regeneration.

Benefits of Circulation
An infrared sauna pod stimulates the circulatory system, causing the heart to beat more vigorously and blood vessels to dilate, which helps cleanse the circulatory system and more fully oxygenate the body’s cells. Better blood circulation means more toxins flow from deep tissue to the skin’s surface to help with cell health and the immune system.

Immune Health
Raising core body temperature is key to keeping you healthy. Although our pods heat you up differently than a fever, the increased body temperature provides similar benefits, including white blood cell and T-cell production to help ward off viruses. This heat produces a deep, detoxifying sweat below the skin’s surface, where most toxins reside. Your sweat then pushes out the toxins, cleansing your body and rejuvenating your skin. Our pods have been proven to raise core body temperature by 3 degrees.

What’s the difference between UV Light and Red Light?

Ultraviolet light (100nm-400nm) is invisible and has short, powerful wavelengths. UV light from the sun is what’s responsible for tanning or burning your skin. UV light is also responsible for supplying the body with Vitamin D.  Red light, on the other hand, comes from wavelengths in the mid-600nm range. Red light is visible and has been studied in thousands of clinical trials and medical studies. Per Dermatologist Dr. Lindsay Zubritskey, there is no increased risk of skin cancer or UV damage with Red light therapy.

Can the sauna aid in relaxation?

Our infrared therapy soothes your mind by enveloping your body in relaxing warmth. Our saunas are designed for maximum comfort, allowing you to not only loosen your body, but loosen your mind. Practicing mindful meditation while in a sauna therapy session can also help with mental stress reduction. Alone time is maximized with a sauna therapy session, giving you an opportunity to reflect and move on from the stressors of the day.

What are the age requirements?

You must be at least 18 years old to utilize our sauna pods.

What technology do you use?

We only use top of the line technology for our saunas. Our pods have a proven track record for lowering blood pressure, increasing core temperature, and aiding in weight loss.

Is infrared sauna technology harmful?

The technology is safe, developed by NASA, and approved by the FDA. However, please listen to your body and use your best judgement on frequency.

How does the sauna aid in cardiovascular health?

Our pods have been clinically shown to provide one of the best, natural ways to help temporarily lower blood pressure. In a 2005 clinical study by the University of Missouri Kansas City, our far infrared heaters were shown to temporarily lower blood pressure through a program of three, 30-minute infrared sauna sessions per week. The study concluded that the pod sessions, as part of a healthy lifestyle, dilated blood vessels and reduced the volume of their inner lining, thus increasing circulation needed for healthy blood pressure.

Time in a sauna heats your muscles with infrared rays and produces an increase in blood flow similar to regular exercise. In fact, blood flow during infrared sauna use has been reported to rise from a normal rate of 5-7 quarts per minute, to as much as 13 quarts per minute. Additionally, a Japanese study published in the October 2008 issue of The Journal of Cardiology examined the clinical effectiveness and safety of infrared blood pressure therapy, as compared to standard therapies for patients with chronic heart failure. The report concluded that far-infrared sauna therapy is both safe and effective at improving clinical symptoms and cardiac function as well as decreasing cardiac size in chronic heart failure patients. Repeated infrared sauna use improved impaired blood vessel functions in patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. This suggests a preventive role, as a part of a healthy lifestyle, for infrared sauna use for arteriosclerosis.

Can I bring my phone and/or earbuds?

Yes, you can bring your phone and earbuds to your session, provided you keep all alerts on silent. We actually encourage the use of earbuds for a more relaxing experience. We just recommend that you do not place either item inside the sauna pod.

What if I consumed Alcohol in the last 24 hours

Alcohol use prior to sauna usage is prohibited as Alcohol may depress the heart and respiratory systems. Please do not consume alcohol within 24 hours prior to your sauna session.

What's the difference between your Saunas and HotWorx?

While IJWS and HotWorx both utilize infrared energy, our sauna beds sustain more heat with a max of 150 degrees F. Our beds facilitate rest, relaxation while lying on a plush memory foam antimicrobial mattress. The beds are also located within an enclosed room to better serve your privacy.

What should I wear?

During your sweat we recommend that less is more. Feel free to sweat in your birthday suit if you are comfortable with that. Otherwise we recommend a swim suit, or bra and underwear. Please make sure that the clothing is free of plastic or any metal bras with underwire or swim suits with metal eyelets.

How should I prepare for my Sauna session?

Please make sure that you are hydrated and have eaten a little something. We advise against sweating on an empty stomach, but also not arriving immediately after a heavy meal.

What do you clean the sauna pods with?

We clean the sauna pods with a UV light similar to most hospitals. We also use a non-toxic cleaner after each sweat session. We replace all towels with clean towels between sessions.

If you have a chronic condition that makes you sensitive to temperature, we recommend checking with your doctor before booking a session. We recommend checking with your doctor if you have recently had an injury and/or undergone surgery of any kind. If you have hemophilia we do not recommend sweating. If you are on any medications please check with your doctor (especially if you are on blood thinners).

If you have extensive heart health issues such as a myocardial infarction, please consult your provider prior to use.

If you have been advised to stay away from heat or have any concerns regarding medical conditions, please talk to your doctor. If you have had an abdominal surgery, tummy tuck, c-section or breast augmentation, consult a physician prior to using our Infrared sauna to ensure that it is approved for use. Please remember we are not Medical Physicians.

IS IT SAFE? ARE THERE ANY RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH IT?

There are no major risks associated with sweating for individuals with average health. If you are worried, please consult your doctor before booking a sweat. If you have had an abdominal surgery, tummy tuck, c-section or breast augmentation, consult a physician prior to using our sauna pods to ensure that it is approved for use.

What is Infrared Heat?

Infrared light is part of the Sun’s invisible spectrum of light that has the ability to penetrate the human tissue. Infrared heat therapy uses these infrared light characteristics to heat the body directly rather than just the air. The experience of an infrared sauna is similar to sunbathing, which gives you the radiant heat that is all your own. The infrared heat penetrates your skin, giving you that wonderful natural warmth. Unlike sunbathing, infrared heat therapy is completely healthy and safe. You can relax in an infrared sauna and it will never cause your skin to burn.
